Here’s what happened when investors let teens handle their risky crypto investments

The Cajee brothers told investors the firm had been hacked — then they disappeared

When Gill Mudditt raised some cash from selling her home last year, a friend introduced the Johannesburg resident to Ameer Cajee, an 18 year old who ran a South African cryptocurrency investment firm.

Mudditt, 72, saw an opportunity to grow her cash by tapping into the bitcoin craze. Cajee’s age didn’t bother her. On the contrary, “I’m glad he’s young, he knows more than I do,” she says she thought at the time.
