Here’s what’s next for UK vaccine schedule after green light for Oxford-AstraZeneca shot

Here's what the government is planning, when roll out will begin and who can get the shot first

The UK government is rolling out the first doses as of 30 December, to the most vulnerable in its high-risk priority groups including care home residents and staff, people over 80 and health and care workers, then to the rest of the population in order of age and risk, including those who are clinically extremely vulnerable

The UK has now approved the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine, becoming the first country in the world to green light the Covid-19 shot.

The country's Vaccines Taskforce has to date secured 357 million doses of seven of the most promising vaccines so far. The government has also invested over £230m into manufacturing a successful vaccine, with the Treasury allocating more than £6bn to develop and procure successful vaccines.
