Hermes renews News Corp governance push

The fund manager has again asked for the appointment of a new independent chairman at the news group, echoing a call it made last year to replace Rupert Murdoch

Hermes Equity Ownership Services has again asked for the appointment of a new independent chairman at News Corporation, echoing a call it made last year to replace Rupert Murdoch as chairman of the media conglomerate.

The fund manager on Wednesday said it supported a resolution that was co-submitted by US-based pension fund Christian Brothers Investment Services and the UK-based Local Authority Pension Fund Forum that seeks the appointment of an independent chairman of the firm.
