A portfolio manager who forced the closure of a fund with his departure this summer, has re-emerged at Hermes as director for emerging markets as the sector draws renewed investor interest.

Samir Patel, former manager of the listed Polar Capital Latin American fund, left the boutique firm in July. An announcement to the London Stock Exchange at the time said he had left for personal reasons and that the fund was winding up as a result.
