Hermes secures $100m from Californian fund

Hermes, the active UK corporate governance asset management company, has won a $100m (€97.5m) mandate from the California Public Employees Retirement System (Calpers), the largest public pension fund in the US.

The money will be invested with the Hermes European Focus fund. The company's Focus funds invest in under-performing stocks with governance or ethical issues and attempt to improve their share price through shareholder engagement.
