Hermes, the asset manager for the BT pension scheme, has appointed an emerging market specialist from RAB Capital whose fund has suffered from large losses in the past year in the wake of the financial turmoil.

Jonathan Pines, former joint manager of the RAB Capital Global Emerging Markets, is to join Hermes as director of equities in the emerging markets region.
