Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing has appointed Garry Jones to run the London Metal Exchange, ending weeks of speculation over the UK bourse’s new leadership.

Jones will join the LME as chief executive on September 30, replacing Martin Abbott whose resignation was announced in June, the HKEx said in a statement today. Jones will also become HKEx's co-head of global markets and a member of HKEx's management committee.
