Hoare Govett, the broking arm of Dutch bank ABN Amro, has lost its first client since its chief executive and four senior brokers defected to Citigroup. Cadbury Schweppes, the UK drinks and food group, appointed Goldman Sachs and UBS as joint brokers in its place.

Cadbury Schweppes confirmed the appointment late yesterday in a statement.
