City executives can take some small comfort amid the turmoil around the general election result – namely that rumours of a cabinet reshuffle displacing Chancellor of the Exchequer Philip Hammond, possibly along with Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union David Davis – have been put to rest.

Speculation had risen in the weeks prior to the election that Hammond and possibly Davis were likely to be removed from their posts, with Davis potentially moved to another position within government.
