Horse-trading kicks off over Mifid II

Tri-party talks began last week over which rules should be included in one of the EU’s key responses to the financial crisis. FN reports on what goes on behind closed doors

Haggling, horse-trading and the hunt for compromise started last week over the European Union’s extensive new rules that will govern markets and trading in the region.

Under discussion is the revised version of the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive, which forms part of Europe's response to the financial crisis and is expected to transform the way a range of securities are traded.
