Sam Gyimah is used to feeling like an outsider. Whether that is in the investment banking team at Goldman Sachs or in the corridors of power at Westminster.

“I have been the only Black person in the room, whether that’s in investment banking, attending a client meeting or in the Cabinet,” said the former Conservative MP, who started out at the US bank. “It has always been something that I’ve been very conscious of throughout my career, knowing that it shouldn’t be that way.”
