HSBC Global Asset Management has hired an executive from rival BlackRock to help it develop hedge fund-like investment products for large institutions.

The fund manager’s $40bn alternatives arm has brought in John Ware as a senior product specialist in London. He will report to Steven Ward, HSBC’s global head of alternative products.
