HSBC avoids shareholder rebellion over executive pay

HSBC has successful fended off a shareholder revolt over the remuneration package for one of its top executives.

Nearly three-quarters of HSBC shareholders voted to approve the executive pay package at Friday's annual general meeting, but the issue has once again highlighted the difficulty that UK companies face in competitively remunerating US executives without incensing their UK shareholders.
