HSBC Investment Bank is building a new Scandinavian coverage effort after hiring the former Chase Flemings director David Watson.

HSBC previously had no dedicated coverage team for Scandinavia but now plans to recruit a team of up to eight, according to Didier Stoessel, chief executive of corporate finance and advisory at the bank. The move is part of a general strategy of moving into the continental mergers and acquisitions market.
