HSBC Asset Management has made its first significant hire since the mass departure of an investment team last year, with the appointment of Chris Rodgers as head of UK equities.

Rodgers replaces Tim Russell, who left HSBC along with Chris Rice and three other members of the pan-European team to join Cazenove Fund Management in September 2002.
