HSBC makes two key appointments in investment banking unit

The bank has hired Steven Wirth as global head of real asset fund coverage, and has promoted Giulio Hoffmann to co-head of power, utilities and renewables investment banking within Europe, the Middle East and Africa

HSBC has made two key appointments in its investment banking unit, as the UK lender continues to hire senior talent despite an ongoing restructure.

The bank has hired Steven Wirth as global head of real asset fund coverage, according to an internal memo seen by Financial News, sitting within the bank's private capital unit. The memo said he will "spearhead our coverage of Real Asset Funds, a priority growth vertical within the Private Capital Group". He will join on 1 February.
