HSBC has re-introduced mask-wearing in its UK offices and branches, and has asked staff to be more cautious about large festive gatherings as the Omicron Covid variant prompts large investment banks to weigh changes to their working arrangements.

The UK lender told staff in a memo seen by Financial News that it was introducing the changes from 30 November, as the government has made face coverings compulsory in shops and public transport as part of a series of new measures introduced in response to the Omicron variant.
