HSBC performs private banking volte-face in Monaco

The UK bank has opted to keep the wealth management unit it considered selling earlier this year

HSBC has decided to keep its private banking business in Monaco, having considered a sale of the unit earlier this year.

The UK bank said in a regulatory filing today that it had decided to retain the business after reviewing unsolicited expressions of interest. HSBC said: "Following completion of this review and consideration of expressions of interest the decision has been made to retain the business."
