HSBC wins lead role on $2.1bn Cineworld deal amid UK push

HSBC is also acting as a lead adviser to gold-miner Endeavour on its attempt to tie up with rival Centamin

HSBC has secured a prime role on the $2.1bn acquisition of Cineplex by its UK rival Cineworld, a significant deal for the bank as it continues to try and generate more revenues from its home market.

The UK lender is joint lead adviser to Cineworld, alongside Bank of America, on the bid by the Canadian cinema group to access the approximately $770m Canadian box office, of which Cineplex has a 75% share.
