The leaders of Herbert Smith Freehills said their planned merger with New York law firm Kramer Levin marks the beginning of an ambitious US expansion drive.

The two law firms said on 11 November that they had agreed to merge, with the combined firm to be called Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer.
