Hundreds of staff at the Financial Conduct Authority missed out on bonuses last year as the markets watchdog tightened performance criteria and phased out the payments.

Employees moved from a four-tier to a five-tier performance grading ahead of the FCA's scrapping of discretionary bonuses, which were previously allocated to the vast majority of staff.
