Martha Lane Fox, co-chief of internet stock Lastminute.com, could not resist reflecting on the irony of being asked to address troubled investment managers at last week's Fund Forum in Nice.

She said: "The last time I talked to so many fund managers, I was presenting an award, and I knew that any of them investing in my stock would not have won it."
