Huw van Steenis, the former head of strategy at Schroders, is to join the Bank of England as an adviser to Mark Carney during the final months of his tenure at the central bank.

The Bank of England announced on Wednesday that van Steenis will work with Carney and others within the institution "to deepen its understanding of a number of major issues".
