Seasoned investor Hywel George is heading for Africa, where he is set to become director of investments at Old Mutual, the South African insurer and asset manager.

As a result of his move, the latest of several into Africa, George will supervise assets in the region totalling $40bn, managed separately to Old Mutual Global Investors, which looks after $210bn across the rest of the world.
