Dimitrios Georgiou was 29 when he moved from Glasgow to London to start a career as an investment banker. 

Despite having seven years of experience at accountants Arthur Andersen, on advisory as well as corporate restructuring work, he was asked to start out on the bottom rung as an analyst. This was the price, as one manager put it, of being “from the regions”.
