Investor demand for VCTs to rise 50%

Firms continue to offer new venture capital trusts after a doubling in the market size of the tax-efficient vehicles

Venture capital trusts, a tax efficient method of investing in start-up ventures in the UK, is predicted to rise by a further 50% in value this year as firms continue to offer new products and expand offerings to meet demand.

The total value of funds raised in the VCT market reached £338m in the 2009/10 tax year, more than double that of the year before. According to an independent data consultancy, which provides research into VCTs but which declines to be named, it will reach £500m this year.
