Ice rules out merging cocoa contracts

IntercontinentalExchange says it will not combine the world's two largest cocoa-futures contracts after its acquisition of Liffe

IntercontinentalExchange said Thursday it has ruled out combining the world's two largest cocoa-futures contracts, which would both come under its control with its planned acquisition of NYSE Euronext.

The contracts, used by traders of the key chocolate ingredient and food companies to hedge against price fluctuations, would come under one roof in the acquisition, which NYSE expects will close Nov. 4.
