Repayment wall a 'source of opportunities' says ICG chief

The lender expects to see more investment opportunities as traditional leveraged finance providers step back from the market

The chief executive of Intermediate Capital Group says that the opportunities for alternative lenders are growing as boom-time European buyouts face a repayment wall and struggle to get bank financing.

Christophe Evain, chief executive of ICG, said that capital constraints imposed on banks by Basel III regulation and lack of liquidity were two of the main stumbling blocks facing banks that traditionally have lent to private equity-backed companies.
