FTSE Group has named Lindsay Tomlinson, chief executive of Barclays Global Investors, as chairman of its policy group.

The group, which reviews the management of all FTSE indices, has also appointed David Hobbs as chairman of the FTSE equity indices committee. Hobbs is global head of passive investment at UBS Global Asset Management. Eric Shirbini, head of equity research database at BNP Paribas, has been hired as chairman of the FTSE Europe Committee. Mark Makepeace, chief executive of the FTSE Group, said: "The three new chairmen have extensive experience both as market practitioners and as FTSE committee members."
