In brief: SWIP beefs up global equity team/Golar turns to Northern/SEI in Israeli alliance

Scottish Widows Investment Partnership, the asset management arm of Lloyds TSB, has strengthened its global equity team with the appointment of two new investment directors. Suhail Arain joins SWIP in July and will be involved in the management of the World (ex-Japan) portfolios and Colin Beveridge joins in September and will assume responsibility for SWIP's global select product. Arain joins from ABP Investments, the largest pension fund in Europe with assets of €150bn ($187.3bn), where he worked as a senior portfolio manager in their global equities team. Beveridge was previously chief investment manager at Alliance Trust, the international investment trust business.
