In brief: Watson Wyatt buys/Standard Life launches/Ruffer hires

Watson Wyatt, the pension consultants, has bought KPMG's pension and actuarial arm in Ireland for an undisclosed sum. The group is part of KPMG's people strategies division and advises companies on the design, implementation and ongoing running of their employee pension schemes. The 60-strong team is led by Raymond McKenna and includes two senior actuaries, Paul O'Brien and Brian Mulcair.
