Evercore and Lazard have been named as advisers on Google's $1.1bn agreement to take on HTC's smartphone team — another win for independent banks on high-profile deals.

The technology firms announced yesterday that a team of HTC employees who have been working with Google to develop pixel smartphones will transfer over to the search engine giant on a permanent basis. As part of the deal Google will also receive a non-exclusive license for HTC intellectual property.
