Private equity firms' losses in India low, but rising

Of 164 exits by private equity firms in India last year, at least eight were at a loss, according to data provider VCCEdge

India's private equity firms' exits, while profitable in general, also saw more losses in 2010 than in the previous two years, primarily due to poor bets on real estate and retail companies.

Of the 164 investments exited last year, at least eight were at a loss, according to data from VCCEdge, which tracks the venture capital and private equity businesses in the country.
