ING Group hit by slump in commission business

A dramatic fall in commission income from securities meant that operating profit for ING Group's banking operations fell 16% in the first quarter of the year.

The Dutch group, which is integrating a number of separate units into one banking division, saw the unit's operating profit before tax fall 16% from the same period last year to €675m ($585m).
