ING Investment Management and China Merchant Securities are forming China Merchant Fund Management Company, making it the latest in a number of Sino-foreign joint ventures to receive a licence from the China Securities Regulatory Commission.

The licence allows the company to start managing assets in China with immediate effect. Since July, the Chinese government has allowed domestic fund managers to form joint ventures with foreign firms keen to tap the potential of this nascent market.
