ING to cut 1,000 jobs as it scales down wholesale banking

Dutch bank ING is cutting 1,000 jobs as it looks to strip out costs amid the fallout from the Covid-19 crisis.

Steven van Rijswijk, the bank's chief executive, said the bank would scale back its wholesale banking unit to focus on core clients, pulling back from some locations including closing offices in South America and some in Asia. The move is part of a broader set of changes at the Dutch group, which will include continuing to focus on its digital transformation plan.
