Somerset Capital was trying to revive its fortunes months before wealth manager St James’s Place dealt what would prove to be the killer blow at the end of November.

The London-based emerging markets boutique, co-founded by Tory MP Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg in 2007, announced on 7 December that it is to wind down, having lost a key SJP mandate that accounted for around two-thirds of its assets under management.
