Ill-timed hiring restrictions in 2020 are coming back to bite banks during this year’s unprecedented deal boom — creating a fierce battle to poach top talent in a frenzy not seen since pre-crisis glory days. 

Banks are scrambling to bolster the senior ranks of M&A dealmakers, sector specialists and equity advisory bankers, according to bank insiders and specialist headhunters.
