Instinet, the agency broker in which news firm Reuters has a 63% stake, has appointed a former head of hedge fund strategy at Citigroup to run its international equities business.

George Thomas was head of strategy and business development at Citigroup Global Investments, the division that manages $90bn in non traditional assets. He was responsible for developing the bank's hedge fund presence.
