New Star Asset Management, the fund manager founded by John Duffield, nearly quadrupled institutional funds under management last year resulting in a 140% rise in operating profits to £25.2m (€37m).

The rise in assets to £4.3bn in the 12 months to December comes as New Star plans a UK stock market listing in the fourth quarter of this year.
