US institutional investors turn to ETFs

The latest Greenwich Associates survey shows growing numbers of US institutional investors are turning to exchange-traded funds as a long-term investment

Growing numbers of US institutional investors are viewing exchange-traded funds as a long-term investment, as the popularity of ETFs continue to rise among the big US funds, according to research firm Greenwich Associates.

The report, published Monday, found that the number of US institutional investors using exchange-traded funds in their portfolios has grown to 18%, up from 14% this time last year, with half planning to increase their ETF allocations further in 2013.
