Insurers brace themselves for performance hit — Schroders

Schroders finds insurance investors are worried about geopolitical forces and interest rate rises

A growing number of insurance companies are preparing for a drop in investment returns, citing geopolitical forces and higher interest rates as factors most likely to dent performance.

According to a survey of 157 insurance investors by Schroders, the UK-listed asset manager, 40% expect their average annual returns to be less than 5% over the next five years — an increase on the 22% that expressed the same sentiment last year.
