Insurers seek regulator leeway in coverage for second wave of virus

The chief executive of insurance firm Hiscox said that may be 'unpalatable' to policyholders

Insurers will be “proactively” seeking to ensure that regulators won't force the industry to cover a possible second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, the chief executive of insurer Hiscox said.

“As we look forward, there is a very clear challenge: the industry will be proactively seeking to ensure that there is absolute clarity that a second wave is not a covered event,” said CEO Bronek Masojada, speaking during a webinar on risk management and the future of insurance on 8 July.
