Interbrew has finally completed the acquisition of Bass Brewers of the UK following months of negotiations - just weeks after buying rival Whitbread Beer.

In July last year, Whitbread announced that it would get out of the brewing business. Interbrew, the privately owned Belgian brewer, was interested in buying the brewing assets, but was keen to get a greater market share.
