Interbrew moves a step closer to Carling sale

Interbrew, the world's second largest brewer, has been ordered to dispose of Bass Brewers or Carling Brewers in a move that will ensure further advisory fees for its bankers.

Interbrew bought Bass Brewers last year to give it a market share above 30%. But the UK competition authorities intervened, putting Interbrew under pressure to sell Bass Brewers' UK interests.
