The International Petroleum Exchange has forged an alliance with the Chicago Climate Exchange, the new US-based marketplace for trading greenhouse gas emissions.

Under the terms of the agreement, the International Petroleum Exchange will list futures contracts on European Union emissions by the end of the year, ahead of the introduction of the EU emissions trading scheme in early 2005.
