Invesco dumps Debenhams stake as problems worsen for UK retailer

A top-five shareholder in Debenhams has ditched its stake in the struggling UK retailer as an ownership tussle between retail billionaire Mike Ashley and the department store heats up.

Invesco, the asset management giant, has sold out of the retailer as Ashley attempts to appoint himself to the board of Debenhams in an executive role and oust other directors.
