Investec Asset Management has beefed up its fixed income team with the appointments of Rupert Watson and Shakeel Ahmad.

Watson, who becomes global fixed income portfolio manager, will join the firm in May. It is understood that he is on gardening leave. He was previously at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers, where he was also a member of the fixed income unit.
