Investec, which has been looking to build out its investment banking business and which has been linked with a potential acquisition of Icap's cash equities division, has made six new appointments including a new head of research.

Investec this morning announced that it had made six new hires, including the appointment of Andrew Fitchie as head of research and airlines analyst.
