Investment banking boosts WestLB profits

WestDeutsche Landesbank unveiled a 6.7% increase in operating profits for 2000 on Friday, helped by a strong contribution from its investment banking arm, WestLB Panmure.

The group's provisional results showed a rise in operating profit from €846m ($791.2m) to €902.7m, primarily due to growth of net commission and trading income from investment banking activities.
